3 Things: Travel and Beauty

we heart this – Packing-essentials

Travel Beauty

I recently made a 2-week trip to Scotland and it was a huge challenge to fit everything in my carry-on luggage. It was an even bigger challenge to fit 2 weeks worth of toiletries into that tiny, quart-sized bag the airlines allow. Now, I’m the kind of girl that likes to wear a different lipstick every day of the week, so getting my beauty routine narrowed down to only a few products kind of flies in the face of everything I believe in, but somehow I managed. Which brings us to this week’s 3 Things…

1. What makeup/skincare item(s) will you not leave home without? I can’t travel without my Proactiv travel skincare kit. Between the dry air on planes and the stress of travel, I am one breakout away from disaster. A close runner up is NARS Pure Matte lipstick (the skinny ones). They take up no room in my toiletry bag or purse and they pretty much wear all day, so I always have on some color for pictures. Valparaiso was my color of choice during this last trip; it’s a great raspberry shade with a hint of sheen.

2. What beauty product do you love that you can only get abroad? I always make sure I buy either a skincare or makeup item that I can only get in the place I’m traveling to. But I have to say that the one I’ve purchased more than once is Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Spot Wand. It has one side for day and one side with a formulation for night and this stuff is like kryptonite for those lone wolf blemishes that want to ruin an otherwise flawless complexion.

3. Do you use the toiletries supplied by hotels? It really depends on the hotel. During my last trip, I had heard that some hotels in the Scottish highlands can be a bit sketchy, so I packed a bunch of those sample packets of shampoo/conditioner just in case. Which was a good thing because some of the hotels had a hand wash/body wash/shampoo combo, which turned everyone’s hair into straw. We didn’t see a conditioner until the trip was almost over and for a good bit of the trip, there was nowhere to buy extra toiletries. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Your turn, weheartsters! Cut and paste the following into the comments and tell us these 3 Thing:

2. What beauty product do you love that you can only get abroad?
3. Do you use the toiletries supplied by hotels?

Krista resides in the middle of nowhere with her bff/hubby and a puppy that makes feral capuchins seem mellow. She has an irrational fear of ax murder, owns more than one machete for home defense/the zombie apocalypse, and goes to sleep serenaded by the sounds of the Chupagobbler, a mythical turkey beast that roams the woods around her house. Krista has been in the Bermuda Triangle twice and still hasn’t vanished. She is super proud of that.
